1.2 analyzes the role of the social, structural and physical environment with regard to challenges for the elderly
1.3 integrates the knowledge and insights from the program into the professional frame of reference he/she acquired via the preparatory training and professional practice

2. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology acts in an evidence-based manner with regard to the elderly.

2.1 researches the latest scientific state of affairs for each gerontological problem and processes this knowledge in a practice-based manner
2.2 independently and in accordance with insights into and experiences from the practice of the profession builds up a high-quality and scientifically underpinned reasoning with regard to evidence-based gerontological action
2.3 justifies his/her actions on the basis of scientific insights with regard to the elderly

3. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology acts in a value-based manner with and for the elderly, proceeding from a critical reflection.

3.1 has a holistic approach
3.2 shows a socially critical attitude, aimed specifically toward (the arising of) social inequality of the elderly with regard to other age categories or among elderly people
3.3 recognizes and acknowledges the existing differences between the elderly, in sociocultural background and in cognitive and physical possibilities, and takes these differences into account while supporting and guiding the elderly
3.4 takes a well-reasoned and well-considered point of view with respect to ethical, normative social questions regarding the elderly, and does so with openness to and respect for points of view which are different from one’s own
3.5 acts in accordance with professional, deontological and ethical norms
3.6 reflects critically on his/her own professional attitude and actions and those of his/her colleagues, enters into dialogues on this subject, and adjusts where necessary

4. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology actively listens to and uses the expertise of the elderly.

5. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology enters into a professional relationship with the elderly person and his/her environment.

5.1 enters into a dialogue with the elderly person and his/her environment. He/she sees the elderly person an individual, with his/her own context, history, personality and competences, needs and interests. The basis for all of this is an attitude of empathy, openness and authenticity
5.2 establishes a professional relationship and is able to maintain and tie it up, departing from a respectful attitude toward the elderly person and his/her environment

6. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology informs, familiarizes and advises the elderly person and his/her environment in different areas of life.

6.1 combines and translates information from the policy, the practice and scientific literature in different disciplines to the (individual) elderly person and his/her environment, to the team and/or to the organization or institution
6.2 supports the elderly person and his/her environment in formulating their requests and needs with regard to the provision of services and care, with a view to improving the objective and subjective quality of the elderly person’s life
6.3 advises the elderly person and his/her environment on their questions, on the basis of his/her gerontological knowledge and insight into the relevant personal and contextual factors
6.4 acquaints the elderly person and his/her environment with the offer of organizations, services and facilities for the elderly
6.5 conveys his/her knowledge or skills concerning a gerontological theme to elderly persons in a group setting in an accessible manner
6.6 while doing so, proves him/herself to be sensitive to delicate situations, the possible vulnerability of the people involved and to the ethical, emotional and practical implications of his/her communication

7. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology offers psychosocial and emotional support to the elderly person and his/her environment.

7.1 supports and stimulates the elderly person to live/keep living in dignity, in conformity with his/her own values, norms and personality, and to come to involvement and participation (empowerment) in that fashion
7.2 creates an atmosphere in which the elderly person and his/her environment feel safe and respected
7.3 assists the elderly person in coping with development tasks, psychological challenges, possibilities and limitations
7.4 reflects and communicates openly on vital and existential questions with the elderly person and his/her environment
7.5 offers support and help in problematic situations, aware of and taking into consideration the limitations of his/her own professional expertise
7.6 supports the elderly person in maintaining, solidifying and expanding his/her own network
7.7 activates the existing social network – in consultation with the elderly person – for the purpose of the elderly person’s welfare and autonomy
7.8 integrates the systemic and contextual perspective in his/her actions

8. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology guides the elderly person and his/her environment in a trajectory which meets his/her requests for aid or care in different areas of life.

8.1 supports the elderly person in looking after his/her interests
8.2 draws up a (multiprofessional) plan of action through mutual consultation with the elderly person and relevant parties. In this plan of action, each discipline contributes to the concrete actions taken for, with and in collaboration with the elderly person and his/her environment
8.3 uses the available opportunities in order to ensure multiprofessional guidance
8.4 looks for a compromise in his/her communication with all the parties involved
8.5 elaborates preventive measures
8.6 guides the elderly person in a timely preparation for the period in which he/she will no longer be able to express his/her will
8.7 creates solutions in order to better attune the organizational world and the elderly person’s living environment
8.8 works with the elderly person and his/her environment in an empowering manner from conception to realization of this trajectory
8.9 evaluates the trajectory with the elderly person at regular intervals and adjusts it where necessary

9. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology works as a connection between different professional groups on behalf of the elderly.

9.1 employs his/her knowledge of the elderly person’s living environment in multiprofessional consultations
9.2 reports orally/in writing to other professional groups and external parties in a professional manner
9.3 directs the consultation with other professionals from diverse disciplines and integrates their perspectives and specific input
9.4 guides (teams of) volunteers, informal caregivers or professionals who work for or with the elderly
9.5 designs formation which integrates perspectives of various relevant disciplines

10. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology initiates and coordinates consultations and projects on behalf of the elderly.

10.1 initiates and coordinates interprofessional (and if necessary also extra- and transmural) consultations for a good support of an elderly person/the elderly
10.2 develops initiatives (organizing, coordinating and evaluating) which can make the living situation of the elderly in the organization or broader society better or more engaging, and which can improve the well-being of the elderly, and does so in a creative, innovative and substantiated manner
10.3 creates support for these projects within the team
10.4 evaluates organizations and projects concerning (care for) the elderly

11. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology promotes participation of the elderly in policy processes on different levels.

11.1 supports individual elderly people and groups in the participation process to civil society
11.2 guides elderly people and their sport, cultural and social clubs in their activities so that the members can get the maximum from their membership
11.3 supports and guides actors from civil society in addressing and sensibilizing the elderly and in developing a suitable offer
11.4 stimulates the elderly and policy makers to enter into a dialogue with one another, thus improving the connection between them
11.5 stimulates the elderly to think along in a dialogue and propose options/solutions themselves which may influence the policy
11.6 systematically supports advisory councils for the elderly
11.7 increases the participation of the elderly to the policy on a meso- or macrolevel

12. The graduate of the bachelor of psychosocial gerontology informs, advises and evaluates the policy with respect to collective protection of the interests of the elderly.

12.1 signals problems concerning the elderly and sensibilizes the policy-making authorities concerned
12.2 critically evaluates the policy with regard to the elderly on a micro-, meso- and macrolevel and formulates suggestions to improve it
